The CSPH is celebrating the 150th anniversary of The Presbyterian Church in Canada and the Society’s own 50th anniversary in style!
We have many exciting things to look forward to at September’s conference already! These include:
A live interview tentatively scheduled with CSPH President Dr. Robert Revington and special guest speaking about his professional life, and his perspective on his life as a Canadian Presbyterian
First-hand missionary stories shared in papers by Louise Gamble (missionary to Taiwan) and Cathy Reid (missionary to Malawi)
A book panel on Professor Stuart Macdonald’s new book Tradition and Tension: The Presbyterian Church in Canada, 1945–1985 (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2025); the panel will be chaired by Professor John A. Vissers
A new paper by former CSPH president Rev. Dr. Brian Fraser tentatively titled “150 years of Misrepresenting Jesus: Reflections on our Missioning with Canada’s Indigenous Peoples”
A new paper by Rev. Dr. Peter Bush on the heresy trial at Knox Church in Galt, ON
An opportunity to hear from Nicole D’Angela, Managing Archivist of The Presbyterian Church in Canada, about the future move of the archives of The Presbyterian Church, the Anglican Church of Canada and the United Church of Canada into the footprint that was the site of the former Bloor Street United Church, Toronto. Completion date of the move to the new administrative building being constructed for the three national church offices and their respective archives is slated for 2027.
The opportunity to purchase the new book Recollections & Reflections: 150 Years of The Presbyterian Church in Canada, edited by Ian McKechnie
